Easy Warm Crochet Blanket
wow this little classy number was a pleasant surprise. And rather difficult to make a mistake with and yet I still managed to, lol. Even still it turned out great. The repetition of this pattern makes it good for doing while watching tv. I find I am often attracted to the more complex patterns which conflicts with my minimalist design preferences (but I love a challenge ;) ) This pattern has definitely challenged me to not disregard the more simplistic patterns.
This pattern is a repeat of double crochet and ch 1 spaces, working the chain spaces in previous row.
I opted to change it up from the original pattern just a bit. Using scarfie yarn in some nice neutral variegated tones to add a bit of interested and make those stitch overlays stand out.
I also opted to border my afghan as I did make one mistake in chosing a smaller hook and creating a tighter stitch (sometimes my gauge is off and checking gauge is a pain, oops), which I really liked in the end but wanted it to be just a little bit larger.
I think my father in law is really going to enjoy it and with that bit of wool in the scarfie yarn its sure to keep him warm and cozy all winter.
I will definitely be repeating this pattern. See original pattern here.
